Hi Everyone,
I got asked this question by someone recently. Their point being that for that price it should at least have an automatic movement. Did you know, 90% of watches sold today are made with a quartz movement?
Quartz Watches
There are many quartz watches on the market for €300+ and the cost is justified for many reasons. A lot of the big Swiss names like Longines, Cartier etc... sell quartz watches. And some would cost in excess €10k. For Broad & Swan, we have one collection in the €300+ bracket and we believe it is priced competitively. This is our Captains collection. (See image and video)You know instantly when you hold it that it is well made, robust and full of features and benefits.
In terms of Quartz versus Automatic movements, it is a matter of personal choice. I know there are loads of collectors and enthusiasts who are all about the intricate engineering that goes into an automatic movement and I share and appreciate their passion, however, there are also many people that love the look of a watch and could not be bothered with how it works or powered. A lot of people do not want to have to reset their watch each day they decide to wear a different one. A lot people may not even know the difference between the two.
What I'm saying here is that from a consumer point of view, there is no right or wrong. You buy what you like and what you are happy with.
Just some of my own thoughts. Let me know what you think.....
Thanks and enjoy your day
Simon
