A screw down crown is a feature in our Captains Dive watch that you don't see in dress watches or fashion watches. The reason for the threaded screw is so the stem can be screwed into the case tightly and not allow any water egress. When fixed into position, the gasket in the crown forms a water tight
seal. If you need to adjust the time or date, simply unscrew the crown by turning it in an anti-clockwise direction towards the 6 o'clock position. You will feel it pop out slightly as it is mounted on a small spring. If there is any play in the crown at this point it is completly normal. The crown in our one is nice and tight. Simply adjust the day/date and time as you wish and to return the crown to the case, push in and apply slight pressure and turn in a clockwise to close tight.
The image below of my own watch shows the crown unscrewed from the case.
Mistakes to avoid with a screw down crown
Never use under water when the crown is not screwed down. Water will get in and damage the movement!!!
Don't leave the crown open for too long as dust and debris could gather and affect it's performance.
Thanks for reading and I hope you found it both helpful and informative....
